PENSIONERS BREAKFAST – SPUR CENTURION – 21 JUNE 2016
DIABETES SA Pretoria held a PENSIONERS ” WOOLIE WARMER WINTER BREAKFAST” at CENTURION MALL SPUR today 21st JUNE ,2016 at 9h00. Everyone enjoyed a delicious Spur breakfast, steaming hot Capaccino/ coffee or tea, 2 short talks on ‘Healthy Winter eating ‘ sponsored by FUTURE LIFE & “Cosy cared for Feet ” sponsored by RECHARGE YOUR FEET which was presented by foot care specialist Helene… plus free samples, goody gift bag & a free glucose test . DISCHEM CENTURION MALL gave two beautiful His & Her product filled Hampers for prizes ! An enjoyable time was had by all whilst learning so much about healthy eating and caring for ones feet ! Thanks to SPUR CENTURION MALL for donating a percentage of the turnover to DSA Pretoria ……

MEN’S WELLNESS DAY – ROAD ACCIDENT FUND – 23 JUNE 2016
On Thursday 23rd June DSA Pretoria held a Men’s Wellness Day at the RAF ( Road Accident Fund ) in Menlyn. More than 100 male employees attended a very informative talk on Men’s Sexual Health by Prof Etienne Kok.Everyone enjoyed the talk which was sponsored by Bayer Men’s Health which DSA Pretoria thanks them for with deep appreciation !

Diabetes South Africa, Pretoria & Reach for Recovery held a Barnyard fundraiser on Saturday 23rd July,2016 at 13h00 at the Parkview Barnyard, Pretoria … A tribute to Abba & Queen called One Vision was excellent and enjoyed by the many who attended …A fun time was had by all ! Had a very successful DSA Pretoria Centurion Diabetes Support / Wellness meeting yesterday Saturday 29th July, 2017 at 14h00 at Lyttelton Library hall , c/n Cantonment & Union rds , Lyttelton, Centurion. The TOPIC was ” Me and my Diabetes – a whole new perspective ” by Sr Annelie Jordaan which was so interesting,interactive and informative . Thanks to Sr Annelie for her time given ! Homemade Soup & wholewheat rolls were served afterwards… Thanks to the Committee ladies who made them …
HATFIELD WELLNESS GROUP – 19 AUGUST 2017
Saturday afternoon 19th August 2017 – DSA held a Diabetes Wellness group meeting at CDE Hatfield … The Topic was ” Understanding the need for all the Diabetes tests done … i.e. HBA1c, MAU, Lipogram, Blood tests and ECG ” which CDE Dr Michelle Meyer spoke about . It was a very interesting and Informative talk . Dr Meyer covered all the tests done in a fully comprehensive manner which everyone could relate to ! The meeting was very interactive. We all learnt such a great deal ! Free samples were given by Recharge your feet and pill boxes given by Merck. Refreshments were supplied by Servier ! We Thank Dr Michelle Meyer all our sponsors for their contribution to the meeting which was very successful and enjoyed by all .

ALBERTON DIABETES AWARENESS DAY – 12 NOVEMBER 2017
Diabetes South Africa Pretoria Branch had a very good morning with the Lions in Alberton at the New Market Mall . First, as Liz & Brian Midlane from DSA Pretoria were travelling to Alberton, Radio 702 had a programme about world diabetes day, and they had a number of experts on diabetes talking about their areas of expertise. The invitation was given for people who had comments to phone in and join the discussion. Liz phoned and was able to explain about DSA and tell them about the screening at Alberton. Quite a few people told them that they were there because they had heard about DSA on the radio. They had 200 Glucose strips and finished them at 12h55 so 200 screenings (blood sugar and blood pressure) were done between 09:00 and 13:00. Thanks to the Alberton Lions who are a lovely bunch to work with!!
